Photo Blog: Culture

Although, I haven't had as much interaction with Maori Culture as I was anticipating, I was still able to be involved culturally with another scene. I was asked by a friend of mine to perform for this "gig" or Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. From this experience I was able to understand a bit more of the cultural shock oddly of being Chinese within New Zealand. Everyone was fluent within Chinese and spoke it more often than English. Unfortunately for me, I was the only one whom was not fluent in Chinese. I was even introduced in Chinese. But at least it helped me brush up on my language skills despite the fact that I am also not taking a Chinese course. This experience should also reflect or hopefully be similar to the performance that I am having with my Maori Performing arts group which will take place much later this month.
